MADISON, Wis. - Forward Madison FC announced the signing of 25-year-old midfielder Isidro Martinez, pending league and federation approval. The 2015 Gatorade Texas Boys Soccer Player of the Year and former USL Championship man joins the Flamingos for the 2023 season, pending league and federation approval.

Martinez was born in Brownsville, Texas, where he attended Simon Rivera High School. In his senior season, he led the soccer team to a 28-0-0 record, winning the 6A Texas State Championship. In the championship match, Martinez scored a goal en route to a 2-1 win.

After graduating from high school, Martinez attended the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where he would excel, making 70 appearances, scoring nine goals, and tallying 13 assists. During college, Martinez made 12 appearances for then-USL League Two side South Georgia Tormenta FC, appearing in 11 league matches along with the Ibis' 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Second Round fixture against the Charleston Battery.

Martinez remained in the Rio Grande Valley after college, signing his first professional contract with USL Championship side Rio Grande Valley FC on March 8, 2019. In July 2019, Martinez joined Major League Soccer side Houston Dynamo FC on a short-term loan, appearing on the bench during the Dynamo's Leagues Cup Quarterfinal match against Club América on July 24 in Houston.

In total, Martinez made 48 appearances from 2019-20 with the Toros before a one-year stint with fellow Championship side New Mexico United, where he made 30 appearances in 2021. In 2022, Martinez returned to the Toros and made 31 appearances for the club. between 2019 and 2022, Martinez recorded two goals and 18 assists across USL Championship and U.S. Open Cup play.

"Isidro’s quality has shown in all levels that he’s played at in his career,” FMFC Head Coach Matt Glaeser said. "We’re looking forward to seeing the impact he can have in Madison this season."
