Quartet of playmakers stood out in season's first month

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the four nominees for the League One Player of the Month presented by Konami eFootball for March, with top performers from the sixth season's first month selected for the ballot.

Voting for the League One Player of the Month award will be conducted by the following two voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLLeagueOne.com will comprise 60% of the poll. The fan vote will run through Wednesday, April 10 at 2:30 p.m. ET.

  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 40% of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, April 11.

Please note: The League One Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as League One Most Valuable Player or position players of the year.

USL LEAGUE ONE PLAYER OF THE MONTH Nominees – March

  • M - Devin Boyce (MAD) – In the 2021 All-League Second Team midfielder's return to League One, Boyce scored two goals across Madison's unbeaten 1-0-2 start to the season. One of three players to net multiple goals in March, the 27-year-old added 19 duels won, 12 recoveries and an 82% passing accuracy across 267 minutes of action.
  • M - Luis Gil (SPK) – The U.S. Open Cup and Copa MX champion has added a much-needed veteran presence to a young Spokane squad. Velocity FC's inaugural captain directly contributed to his side's two victories, assisting the winner against Richmond on March 16 and scoring the winner against Northern Colorado on March 23. Gil also tallied 16 recoveries, 16 duels won, seven chances created, six dribbles completed and accurately dished out 78% of his passes across his 356 minutes of play.
  • M - Angelo Kelly-Rosales (KNX) – In 249 minutes in March, Kelly-Rosales was tied for the league lead with his two goals and two assists. The Honduran midfielder led all players with his 11 chances created and four goal contributions and helped first-place Knoxville to a club-best 3-0-0 start to a season with his 22 duels won, 13 recoveries and 87% passing accuracy.
  • F - Lyam MacKinnon (GVL) – Greenville's young Swiss star registered a goal and an assist across Triumph SC's unbeaten 2-0-1 start to the season. During his 245 March minutes, the 24-year-old forward recorded 21 duels won, six tackles won, five chances created and four recoveries.
