CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Chattanooga Red Wolves today annouced the re-signing of forward David Texeira for his second season with the club. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

The forward returns to Red Wolves with one of the most impressive international resumes in USL League One having over 11 years of Eredivisie, MLS, Süper Lig, and Primeira Liga experience. Texeira joined the Red Wolves last season late in the year and saw action in three matches.

Texiera played for top-flight Eredivisie club FC Groningen in 2011. During his three seasons with Groningen, Texeira was featured in 65 games and recorded 14 goals. Texeira then joined MLS side FC Dallas in 2014 as a Designated Player after his spell in the Netherlands. Over the course of two seasons, Texeira played 41 games and scored 10 goals.

“My main goal for this year is to help the team achieve our collective goal, reach the playoffs and become champions of USL League One,” said Texeira. “My first season wasn’t what I expected due to injury, but this year I’m ready to push myself and take advantage of this season to the fullest!”

Texeira praises the team chemistry he’s been part of since day one. “I feel very comfortable with the team, since the first day I arrived they’ve made me feel at home,” said Texeira. “We’re a family on and off the field.”

Excited to get back on the field, Texeira has one message to the fans: “To the best fans in the league, I want to tell you that your support at every game is very important to us and you all deserve a championship,” said Texeira. “All together we can achieve it!”

“We’re very happy to have resigned David Texeira. His experience and pedigree at having played at the highest levels in the world, something that we look forward to him being able to showcase this season,” said Red Wolves Head Coach, Jimmy Obleda. “He’s someone that we feel will provide us the mobility and the person in the box to finish the chances we create. He is someone that we plan big things for this season and we look forward to having him with us for the full preseason to build himself and get stronger and prepare for a successful season.”

“David was a late season addition last year so bringing him back for all of 2022 is something that gives us high hopes for the player we know he can be,” said Red Wolves GM & President, Sean McDaniel. “His career has been incredible and having him as a part of the Red Wolves is something we are greatly anticipating.”
