Masterful performance from Mensah secured Player of the Week honor for Red Wolves' goalscorer

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the Team of the Week for Week 6 of the 2024 regular season with Chattanooga Red Wolves SC forward Ropapa Mensah named Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball with four goal contributions against Central Valley Fuego FC.

The 26-year-old Ghanaian goalscorer scored the first hat trick of his career and added a beautiful backheel assist to his impressive showing in Fresno. The former Nashville SC, Penn FC, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and Sporting Kansas City II veteran was also tied for the lead with his 12 duels won on the week.

"All praise to God for the strength and energy; I'm very honored to receive the Player of the Week honor," Mensah said. "I want to thank my teammates, coaches and the entire team for their support and hard work. I'm truly humbled and motivated to continue pushing myself to be the best player I can be."

"Ropapa has had a great start to the season, he looks sharp, motivated and is in good form," Chattanooga Head Coach Scott Mackenzie said. "I truly believe this is only the start for him. Big congratulations on his Player of the Week honor."

COACH - Mike Jeffries, Charlotte Independence: Weathering a dominant Greenville performance in a postseason rematch, Mike Jeffries' Jacks handed Triumph SC its first loss of the season and registered a week-best goal differential minus expected goal differential (2.92) and points won above expected (2.76).

GK - Austin Pack, Charlotte Independence: The reigning Goalkeeper of the Year tallied six saves and a clean sheet in Charlotte's 1-0 victory against first-place Greenville. Pack's -1.70 goals-minus-expected-goals mark and a 1.92 goals-added value on the week led all goalkeepers, per American Soccer Analysis.

D - Ahmed Longmire, Spokane Velocity FC: The former Nashville SC defender scored his second goal of the season and added to Spokane's draw in Lexington with a 96% passing accuracy, six completed long passes, four clearances and four duels won.

D - Blake Malone, Union Omaha: The 23-year-old Omaha native provided his first assist for the Owls on Steevan Dos Santos' 70th-minute winner. Malone contributed with an additional six duels won, four recoveries, two clearances and a 76% passing accuracy.

D - Hugh Roberts, Charlotte Independence: The 31-year-old defender and USL veteran helped Charlotte to a clean sheet and victory against first-place Greenville with a week-high 11 clearances and an additional seven duels won, two tackles won, two completed long passes and 79% passing accuracy.

M - Adrian Billhardt, Richmond Kickers: Billhardt notches his fourth goal of the season across all competitions on Saturday with a special solo score. The German added an additional 10 duels won, six recoveries and five dribbles completed to his side's Henny Derby draw.

M - Devin Boyce, Forward Madison FC: In addition to assisting Derek Gebhard's opening score, Boyce led all players in Week 6 with his five chances created. The midfielder also won eight duels, completed four dribbles and completed four crosses.

M - Jack Denton, Spokane Velocity FC: In his first season as a professional, the Reading FC and Missouri State University product has already earned a third appearance on the Team of the Week. Denton assisted Luis Gil's match-tying goal, completed 89% of his passes, reeled in 10 recoveries, completed nine long passes, won five duels, won three tackles and created a pair of chances.

M - Luis Gil, Spokane Velocity FC: Spokane's inaugural skipper has now scored in four consecutive matches across all competitions and continued his stellar run of form with a goal and assist in Velocity FC's draw in Lexington. The 30-year-old also dished out six corners, tallied four clearances and created a pair of chances

F - Steevan Dos Santos, Union Omaha: The veteran USL goalscorer registered a special, long-range winner against Knoxville at Regal Soccer Stadium on Friday. The Cape Verdean also won 10 duels, tallied three recoveries and produced a pair of chances.

F - Ropapa Mensah, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Chattanooga's 26-year-old Ghanaian goalscorer recorded the first hat trick of his career and the first of the season in Chattanooga's massive 4-2 victory in Fresno. Mensah also added an assist and 12 duels won to his impressive outing.

F - Zahir Vazquez, Central Valley Fuego FC: The 24-year-old forward scored his second league goal of the season and led all players with four shots on target. Vazquez also completed 95% of his passes, won six duels and reeled in four recoveries.
