Pair of enticing matchups set to open Week 26

Potential Playoff Preview in Papillion

Matchup: Union Omaha (12-5-7, 3rd) vs. North Carolina FC (14-5-5, 1st)
Venue: Werner Park; Papillion, Neb.
Kickoff: 8 p.m. ET
Weather: Sunny, 75°
Broadcast: ESPN+
Hashtag: #OMAvNC
Series (First Meeting): 3-1-2, OMA (2021)

WHAT MATTERS

  • History on the horizon: One more win and Omaha will claim the longest wining streak in League One history. The Owls' six-match win streak is currently tied with Lansing Ignite FC (2019) for the most in league history.
  • Kunga time: Former United States youth national team winger Lagos Kunga could make his Omaha debut on Wednesday evening. The 24-year-old Atlanta United FC academy product has amassed over 60 USL Championship appearances
  • Making moves: After finishing in last place in its first two seasons in League One, a North Carolina FC victory would ensure that John Bradford's side would finish no lower than ninth. A victory would also secure NCFC's first 50-point season since 2019.
PLAYER TO WATCH

  • Rashi Nuhu (OMA): Finding his rhythm late in the season, the reigning Goalkeeper of the Year has been an integral piece of Omaha's six-match win streak. Nuhu has allowed no more than two goals in each of Omaha's six consecutive victories and averaged just 1.17 goals conceded per match across that span.
AVAILABILITY REPORT

  • OMA: M - Stefan Mueller (out, injury)
  • NC: F - Shak Adams (out), GK - Nicholas Holliday (out, injury), M - Kyrome Lumsden (out), M - Raheem Somersall (out), D - Daniel Navarro (out, injury), M - Pecka (out, injury)
TEAM MATCH PREVIEWS

Lexington hungry to make History against Hailstorm

Matchup: Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC (12-5-7, 2nd) vs. Lexington SC (7-11-7, 9th)
Venue: Future Legends Complex; Windsor, Colo.
Kickoff: 9 p.m. ET
Weather: Sunny, 78°
Broadcast: ESPN+
Hashtag: #NCOvLEX
Series (First Meeting): 1-0-1, LEX (2023)

WHAT MATTERS

  • What's at stake: A loss or draw against Lexington would confirm the third time that Northern Colorado has gone winless against a single opponent throughout the duration of a season (Madison, Richmond; 2022). Lexington and the Colorado Rapids are the only pair of clubs that Northern Colorado have failed to defeat following at least one meeting. On the other side, a Lexington victory would mark the first time LSC has collected multiple victories against a single opponent, while an LSC win or draw would secure the first-year side's first-ever series victory.
  • Ates on the attack: Ates Diouf is one goal away from matching Azaad Liadi's (TRM) league record of six goals against Fort Lauderdale CF (2021) for the most against a single opponent across a regular season series. Diouf's five goals in two matches against Northern Colorado are tied with Khori Bennett (for CLT, against CV; 2022) for the most goals against a single opponent in an individual season in two or fewer matches.
  • Avoiding the drop: While neither side can move up the table with a win, both could drop by the end of the evening depending upon the result of the OMAvNC match and the final margin of victory in their own match.
PLAYER TO WATCH

  • Amal Knight (LEX): The Lexington goalkeeper tallied four saves in his side's 1-1 draw with Greenville to earn a spot on the Team of the Week. The Jamaica international will play a pivotal role in Lexington's upset bid in Colorado.
AVAILABILITY REPORT

  • NCO: M - Valentín Sabella (out, injury)
  • LEX: D - Terique Mohammed (out, suspension)
