South Georgia Tormenta FC has signed midfielder Craig McCall to its 2021 USL League One roster, the club announced Wednesday. The Scottish midfielder joins the side on a one-year contract with a club option for 2022. 

McCall was originally slated to play with Tormenta FC 2 in the 2020 USL League Two prior to its cancellation. After the League Two season was officially cancelled, McCall was one of eight players invited to train with the first team throughout the summer. 

“Craig is a young player who deserves the opportunity to play professionally,” TFC Head Coach Ian Cameron said. “He entered the US soccer scene in junior college, where he was successful, before making the move to Division II. Then last summer he joined our franchise at the USL League Two level where he thrived. Craig gives our team a different mental edge, and we're excited to get him on the field next year.” 

Prior to signing with TFC, McCall helped Tormenta FC 2 win the USL League Two Southern Conference and Deep South Division, tallying two goals and an assist across 14 appearances in 2019. 

“I’m delighted to sign a pro contract with Tormenta,” Mcall said. “Since coming in at USL League Two, I’ve felt a strong connection and bond with everyone associated with the club. I believe it is a place where I can grow as a player and enjoy my football. I feel that there is something special surrounding Tormenta, and I wanted to be a part of that.”

McCall is Tormenta FC’s first new addition this offseason, joining returners Marco Micaletto, Abuchi Obinwa, Curtis Thorn, and Pablo Jara on the club’s 2021 roster.
