Red Wolves hold off Tormenta's rally; Kickers spring surprise in Greenville

A brace by Steven Beattie gives Red Wolves three points, while Joe Gallardo's stunner gives the Richmond kickers their first road win of the season on Saturday night in League One.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – A first half brace from Red Wolves striker Steven Beattie, and a goal from teammate Eamon Zayed, was enough to give Chattanooga a well-earned 3-2 victory over Tormenta FC on Saturday night. Under cold skies in the Scenic City, all three Chattanooga goals came in the opening 18 minutes of play and it seemed as though the hosts were going to secure all three points with ease. However, Tormenta came storming back thanks to goals two second half goals from Connor Antley and Chris Hellman, respectively, only to see their comeback fall just short at the closing whistle. Saturday’s win marked Chattanooga’s second consecutive home victory of the season. Man of the Match

Steven Beattie, Chattanooga Red Wolves – The Irishman was a force to be reckoned with, capitalizing on an early mistake from Tormenta goalkeeper Pablo Jara, and then finding the back of the net again just fifteen minutes later to help his side secure all three points.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – A stellar second-half goal from Richmond playmaker Joe Gallardo was enough to secure the Kickers a much-needed road victory over Greenville Triumph on Saturday night. After a slow first half, Gallardo brought the game to life in the 49th-minute, collecting 35-yards from goal and embarked on a slaloming run through the Greenville back line, carving in and out, and eventually slotting home past Triumph goalkeeper Dallas Jaye. It proved the match’s defining moment and sent the Kickers home with their first win in League One competition. Man of the Match

Joe Gallardo, Richmond Kickers – In an otherwise even contest, Gallardo provided a moment of brilliance for the Kickers, scoring the winner and securing all three points.
