TUCSON, Ariz. – FC Tucson added to its midfield on Tuesday as the club announced the return of Luis Martinez for the 2019 USL League One season, pending league and federation approval. Per club policy, the details of the contract will not be released.
Martinez previously played for FC Tucson in 2015, netting four goals in 13 appearances for the club during USL League Two play.
“I’m excited and humbled by the opportunity given to me to represent the FC Tucson crest once again,” said Martinez. “I can’t wait to get back out there and get the season going.”
Martinez most recently featured with USL Championship side OKC Energy FC in 2017, appearing in 17 matches for the club over two seasons. The 28-year-old played four collegiate seasons at Chico State University, where he registered eight goals and 13 assists in 66 career appearances for the Wildcats.
Martinez marks the 14th player to sign for FC Tucson ahead of the 2019 season, joining Roy Abergil, Kyle Bjornethun, Guillermo Delgado, Karsten Hanlin, Austin Ledbetter, Gilbert Oord, Moshe Perez, Raheem Somersall, José Carlos Terrón, Kyle Venter, Kody Wakasa, Kienan Weekes and Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu.
