Center back made 25 appearances for Penn FC in 2018

TUCSON, Ariz. – FC Tucson added another piece to its back line on Tuesday as the club announced the signing of former Penn FC defender Kyle Venter for the 2019 USL League One season. Per club policy, the details of the contract will not be released.

Venter, a native of Aurora, Colorado, played four years of college soccer at the University of New Mexico before being selected with the 23rd overall pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by the LA Galaxy. Since then, the 27-year-old has spent most of his career playing in the USL Championship, having featured for the LA Galaxy II, Tulsa Roughnecks FC, Ottawa Fury FC and most recently Penn FC.

In 2018, Venter made 25 appearances for the Pennsylvania side, leading the team with 103 clearances and chipping on the offensive end with two goals and two assists in 2,174 minutes of action.

“It is an absolute pleasure to sign with FC Tucson for its first professional season,” said Venter. “The environment that Coach [Darren] Sawatzky describes was something I absolutely wanted to be a part of. I cannot wait to get to work with my teammates and compete.”
