Defender from The Upstate joins from USL Championship side Sacramento Republic FC

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Greenville Triumph SC added to its inaugural roster on Saturday as the club announced the signing of defender Cole Seiler for the 2019 USL League One season, pending league and federation approval.

The Anderson, S.C. native most recently featured in the USL Championship with Sacramento Republic FC, making 19 appearances for the club across the 2018 regular season and USL Cup Playoffs.

“The proximity to my home was a major contributing factor as to why I chose Triumph SC,” said Seiler. “In addition to coming home, the announcement of John Harkes as Head Coach put things over the top.”

Seiler played four collegiate seasons at Georgetown University, where he started 86 of 87 games and earned second-team All-Big East honors. He was selected by Vancouver Whitecaps FC with the 16th overall pick of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. The 24-year-old made two MLS appearances for the club but spent the majority of his first two professional seasons on loan with Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 in the Championship.

“There is true value in having a local, professional role model from The Upstate join the Greenville Triumph in our first year,” said Harkes. “Cole comes to us with MLS and USL experience. He can play in the midfield or as a central defender.  We are happy to bring a professional with his experience to our club and keep him in the Upstate while playing for Greenville Triumph.”

Seiler becomes the seventh player to sign with Triumph SC, joining Tyler Polak, Jake Keegan, Evan Lee, Paul Clowes, Cameron Saul and Sami Guediri on the club’s inaugural roster.
