Two to Tucson: Somersall, Weekes Join Inaugural Roster

Midfielder and goalkeeper sign on after successful collegiate careers

TUCSON, Ariz. – FC Tucson added another pair of players on Thursday as the club announced it had signed midfielder Raheem Somersall and goalkeeper Kienan Weekes for the 2019 USL League One season. Per club policy, the details of the contracts will not be released.

Somersall, a native of Basseterre, St. Kitts, most recently played at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he registered one assist in 15 appearances for the Eagles. Prior to transferring to FGCU, Somersall spent three years at Appalachian State University. He made 49 career starts as a Mountaineer and appeared in a total of 51 matches. 

Somersall has also represented his country on the international stage, making six senior appearances for St. Kitts over the past two seasons and participating in U-20 World Cup Qualifying.

Weekes joins the club after a successful collegiate career with the University of Portland. He captained the side during his senior season, during which he amassed a 12-3-2 record and posted a 0.92 goals against average.

The San Ramon, Calif. native is FC Tucson’s first goalkeeper on the roster and seventh player overall, joining Somersall, Guillermo Delgado, Karsten Hanlin, Moshe Perez, Kody Wakasa and Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu.
