FC Tucson Signs Midfielder Hanlin

25-year-old spent 2018 season with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC

TUCSON, Ariz. – FC Tucson announced on Tuesday that the club has signed midfielder Karsten Hanlin for the 2019 USL League One season. Per club policy, the details of the contract will not be released. 

"I'm very excited to be with FC Tucson in their first professional season,” said Hanlin. “I've heard great things about the city and the club, from facilities to the fans. [Head Coach] Darren [Sawatzky] and the staff are building something special, and I can't wait to get started."

Hanlin joins the club having most recently featured for Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC of the USL Championship. The 25-year-old made 16 appearances for the Switchbacks in 2018, recording three assists.

The Denver, Colo. native also previously played in the Championship for Real Monarchs SLC, scoring two goals and recording one assist for the club in 16 appearances.

Collegiately, Hanlin started in 71 matches over his four-year career at the University of Denver. He recorded 14 goals, 15 assists and seven game-winning goals before graduating in 2016.

Hanlin becomes the third player to sign for FC Tucson ahead of the inaugural League One season, joining midfielder Moshe Perez and forward Guillermo Delgado.
