Forward earned Heartland Conference Player of the Year honors in 2018

LANSING, Mich. – Lansing Ignite announced on Friday it had signed former St. Mary’s University forward Pato Botello Faz for the 2019 USL League One season, pending league and federation approval.

In four seasons with the Rattlers, Botello Faz scored 39 goals and provided 15 assists. He recorded his most successful season in 2018, scoring 18 goals and notching six assists on his way to earning Heartland Conference Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year honors.

The standout attacker also competed in USL League Two from 2017-2018, playing 12 matches for Texas United in 2017 and appearing in nine games for 2018 expansion side Corpus Christi FC. Botello Faz served as one of Corpus Christi’s key contributors last season, scoring eight goals and recording three assists.

“Pato is an energetic and gritty striker, who fits perfectly into what we look for in that position,” Ignite FC Head Coach Nate Miller said. “He has a real edge about him, which I love, and he is extremely instinctual in the box. Pato loves to score goals and has also produced. He has great passion and desire that I love and the determination to make him successful.”

Botello Faz becomes the 12th player named to Lansing’s roster for the 2019 season, joining Xavier Gomez, Rafa Mentzingen, Christian Silva, Kyle Carr, Nathan Lewis, Steeve Saint-Duc, Kyle Ihn, Rhys Williams, Kevin Coiffic, Omar Castro and Brandon Fricke.

“This is a dream come true for me,” Botello Faz said. “I’m so honored to begin my pro career with Lansing Ignite and am extremely excited to join the team in February.”
