24-year-old returns for third season with the Kickers

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers announced on Monday that the club has re-signed midfielder Matt Bolduc for the 2019 season, pending USSF and USL League One approval.

“When it was announced last season that we would be moving to USL League One, Matt was the first to express a desire to stay with the Kickers despite the change in leagues,” said Kickers Head Coach David Bulow. “He has expressed a love for the city, the club and its fan base on multiple occasions and will be a very valuable veteran as we take the new Richmond Kickers into the future.”

Bolduc returns for his third year with the Kickers after initially signing for the club just after the start of the 2017 USL Championship season. In his first season in Richmond, the 24-year-old played in 15 matches and recorded two goals and one assist. In 2018, Bolduc made 14 appearances for the Kickers, including nine starts.

“I’m happy to be returning to Richmond,” said Bolduc. “It’s an organization and town that’s made me feel at home over the past two years. David and Matt have the ambition to top the league and that’s all the motivation we as players need for this season. Can’t wait to make the Red Army and Richmond Kickers’ fans proud.”

A native of Peterborough, New Hampshire, Bolduc made 16 appearances during one collegiate season at the University of Massachusetts before beginning his professional career with Mass United. He first featured in the USL Championship in 2016 for future USL League One side Penn FC.

The Kickers' roster now stands at six members for the 2019 season, with Bolduc joining Amass Amankona, Dennis Chin, Josh Hughes, Scott Thomsen, and Braeden Troyer.
