Center back joins from Swedish side Härnösands FF

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Chattanooga Red Wolves SC announced on Wednesday that it signed defender Leo Folla for the 2019 USL League One season, pending league and federation approval.

A native of New York, N.Y., Folla joins Chattanooga after a stint with Härnösands FF of Sweden’s Division 2 Norrland. According to Red Wolves SC Head Coach and Technical Director Tim Hankinson, the young defender shows a lot of promise as a member of the Red Wolves' back line.

“Leo is a calm and technical center back,” said Hankinson. “He is poised on the ball and excels at building out of the defense, delivering passes and finding his midfielders.”

Prior to his stint with Härnösands FF, Folla had a decorated collegiate career at St. Francis College, making 53 starts over three years after transferring from the University of Albany following his freshman year. He recorded five goals and two assists for the Terriers while helping the team to two Northeast Conference Regular Season Titles and two Northeast Conference Championships. Folla also garnered a Northeast Conference All-Team selection in 2017.

“I look forward to joining such an ambitious club and having a successful inaugural season with Chattanooga,” said Folla. “The club is moving in the right direction, and I’m ecstatic to continue my career development here.”

Folla becomes the thirteenth player signing for the club and sixth defender, joining Nicholas Amponsah, Jonathan Caparelli, Richard Dixon, Colin Falvey and Vangjel Zguro on the Red Wolves’ back line.
