LANSING, Mich. – Lansing Ignite announced on Saturday it had signed Trinidad & Tobago international Nathan Lewis as its fifth player for the club’s inaugural season in USL League One. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

Lewis most recently competed in the USL Championship for Indy Eleven, where he made 11 appearances in the 2018 season. Prior to joining Indy Eleven, Lewis played with several Trinidadian clubs including Morvant Caledonia United, San Juan Jabloteh and Central FC.

“I’m very excited to add Nathan’s quality and experience to our team,” said Head Coach Nate Miller. “Nathan has tremendous pace and the ability to get behind the opponent. He is a proven, experienced and established player with the T&T national team and will be playing in the Gold Cup this summer.”

Lewis has made 18 appearances at the international level for Trinidad & Tobago, making his debut in 2016. Lewis was a fixture in the Soca Warriors’ squad during qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and this past September scored his second goal for the national team in a 2-0 victory against the United Arab Emirates in Girona, Spain.

“Nathan gives us something different on the wing, and teams have to account for his pace and mobility,” said Miller. “I look forward to integrating Nathan into our system and him making a tremendous impact.”
