Former Lansing United midfielder earned All-Big South honors in senior season at Liberty

LANSING, Mich. – Lansing Ignite announced on Thursday it had signed former Lansing United and Liberty University midfielder Kyle Carr as its fourth player for the club’s inaugural season. Carr will join Lansing, a founding member of the USL League One, pending league and federation approval.

A former Lansing United standout, Carr had collegiate success playing for Taylor University, Eastern Florida State College and Liberty University, where he graduated in 2017. Carr's road to the professional ranks started in 2014 at EFSC where he started all 17 contests for the Titans while leading the side to a 13-3-1 record. Carr’s play saw him elected as the 2014-15 Eastern Florida State Male Student-Athlete of the Year in addition to being named to the 2014 NJCAA All-American First Team.

“It has been my dream to play soccer at the professional level since I was a kid,” said Carr. “I am extremely excited to be playing with Coach Miller and Lansing Ignite in the inaugural season. We are building something notable, something the community can be proud of.”

Carr’s success continued after his transfer to Liberty University, where he recorded one goal and two assists in 17 appearances in the 2015 season. As a holding midfielder, he made 16 appearances in his senior season and earned 2016 Big South First Team All-Conference and Big South All-Tournament Team honors.

“Kyle has all the qualities we want in a holding midfielder. He is very intelligent, brings extra detail and precision to his passing game, and has the ability and vision to break the game open,” said Ignite Head Coach Nate Miller. “Kyle is also very gritty and defends at a very high level. He has the capacity to dominate matches in the middle of the park and connect our lines. Kyle has a massive ceiling and I believe he will take off here in Lansing.”

Following his collegiate career, Carr went on to play with Lansing United in the summer of 2018. Carr is the fourth player to sign with Lansing Ignite.
