Young Argentine brings experience from home country, Mexico to Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA,Tenn. – Chattanooga Red Wolves SC has inked Argentine forward Juan Mare to its USL League One team. Mare will join the franchise in 2019 from the USL Championship’s Real Monarchs SLC, pending league and federation approval.

Spending the past two seasons with the Monarchs, Mare made 29 appearances and recorded 972 minutes of action. The forward finished the 2018 season with two goals. According to Tim Hankinson, head coach and technical director for Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, the 23-year-old is a natural fit for the Red Wolves’ proposed offensive game plan.

“Juan is a classic striker. He targets very well bringing the midfield into the attack,” said Hankinson. “He can play-make and score, and his active play will be the perfect complement style to Eamon Zayed’s.”

Prior to joining the Monarchs, Mare started his professional career with Instituto AC Cordoba in his native Argentina in 2013. Following his single season with Instituto, he spent time competing for the Under-20 squads of Monarcas Morelia, Atlas and Puebla FC, all of which play in the top flight of Mexican soccer, Liga MX.

“I could not be more excited to join Chattanooga Red Wolves SC,” said Mare. “Playing for a new club in its USL League One debut is a big opportunity, and I’m grateful to be a part of it.”
