Competed for South Georgia's PDL side for two seasons

South Georgia Tormenta FC signs veteran midfielder Nil Vinyals to its USL Division III team, pending league and federation approval. Vinyals spent two seasons on Tormenta FC’s PDL team and will return to the franchise as it rises to the professional ranks in Spring 2019.

During his 2018 PDL season with Tormenta FC, the Barcelona native was an integral part of the team's undefeated regular season and first Deep South Division title.

"Nil is one of the best midfielders I have ever coached," said Tormenta FC's USL DIII Head Coach John Miglarese. "He was very good for us in 2017, but in 2018, he brought his game to an even higher level. He has the mentality, the work ethic, and the hunger to make it in the USL. He is very deserving of this opportunity."

At 5 feet 11 inches and 155 pounds, Vinyals spent his soccer career playing for clubs like FC Barcelona Futsal and Junior FC but also played at the university level at Union University in Jacksonville, Tennessee and Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

While at Union University, he made the All-Gulf Conference First Team in 2014. In 2015, Vinyals helped the Winthrop Eagles to a conference championship win in the Big South Conference.

Vinyals graduated from Winthrop University in 2018 with a degree in Sports Management.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to play professionally with Tormenta FC and keep growing both personally and professionally," said Vinyals. "I would like to thank the coaching staff, Darin, and Netra (Van Tassell) for believing in me and supporting me during these past two years. Finally, I would also like to thank my family and friends back home, as well as, everyone that has helped me throughout these four years living in the United States."
