League executives to hold meetings in five cities in five days

USL Division III executives will visit five new markets from Monday until Friday, holding meetings in West Virginia and Virginia for the first time while also returning to North Carolina for a third official time.

The league will begin their trip visiting Charleston, West Virginia, before driving to Roanoke, Virginia, on Tuesday. USL DIII officials will then visit Greensboro, Winston-Salem and Hickory, North Carolina, to assess the potential for professional soccer in each city.

"The league’s focus remains on building regional-based competition, allowing fans to follow their team on the road," USL Division III Senior Vice President Steven Short told USLD3.com. "By returning to North Carolina and conducting initial meetings in Virginia and West Virginia, we continue to focus on proven sports communities and providing professional soccer to fans and communities that currently do have not direct access to a team of their own."

USL Division III executives have already held official expansion meetings with local business and city leaders in Asheville, High Point and Fayetteville, North Carolina. In total, the league has conducted site visits in 30 different cities to date – most recently conducting meetings in Lakeland, Florida, and a handful of West Coast cities.

Set to kickoff its inaugural season in 2019, USL Division III has announced South Georgia Tormenta FC, FC Tucson and Greenville Pro Soccer as its first three founding members. Additional teams are set to be announced in the coming weeks, while the league’s official brand will be unveiled later this year.
