A quartet of USL Championship and League One players have been named in Jamaica’s provisional squad for an international friendly against Grenada on Sunday, January 18 with goalkeepers Jahmali Waite and Amal Knight and midfielders Kevon Lambert and Dwayne Atkinson named in Head Coach Rudolph Speid’s squad.

The Reggae Boyz are building toward the FIFA World Cup 2026 Play-Off Tournament in March in Guadalajara, Mexico where they will first play New Caledonia with the winner set to face the Democratic Republic of Congo for a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer.

Waite joins the squad having recently signed with the Tampa Bay Rowdies as part of the club’s roster overhaul this offseason. The 27-year-old is coming off a season in which he made 22 appearances for El Paso Locomotive FC and recorded 49 saves and four shutouts while also featuring for Jamaica, where he recorded shutouts in each of his two appearances in World Cup Qualifying last September.

Knight most recently linked up with the Charlotte Independence, where he made seven appearances after signing with the club in August. The 32-year-old recorded 19 saves at a save percentage of 61.3 percent across the regular season and playoffs, adding to a solid career in USL League One where he has made 197 saves in 59 appearances, logging 10 shutouts and a cumulative save percentage of 66.2 percent.

Lambert returns to the Reggae Boyz having last week signed a new contract with Louisville City FC after his successful loan stint during the 2025 USL Championship season. The versatile midfielder recorded three goals and two assists in 27 appearances over the past campaign while also winning 183 duels at a 56.8 percent success rate and 22 tackles at a 73.3 percent success rate and logging 97 recoveries, 22 interceptions, and 42 clearances. The veteran has recorded 21 goals and 13 assists in 207 appearances overall in the USL Championship, while also earning 28 caps for Jamaica.

Atkinson could make his first appearance for Jamaica since the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, following which he joined Rhode Island FC and made a strong first impression late in the most recent campaign. The 23-year-old scored the game-winning goal for RIFC in the Quarterfinals of the 2025 USL Cup against Birmingham Legion FC while also making 10 appearances in the USL Championship across the regular season and playoffs.
