2025 USL League One Goal of the Year – Group Stage

More than 600 goals were scored in across the regular season and playoffs, these rose to the top of the highlight reel

More than 600 goals were scored across USL League One’s regular season and playoffs in the 2025 season, including some breathtaking finishes, which lit up the league’s highlight reel every week.

Now it’s time to decide the 2025 USL League One Goal of the Year presented by Select. We’ve picked out 16 top strikes and placed them into four groups. Each group winner will advance to next week’s Final stage, where the Goal of the Year will be crowned.

Cast your vote for your favorite in each group before Thursday at 12 p.m. ET, then check back next week for the Final.

Group A

Omar Hernandez, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC – #NAPvCHA, 3/8/25: Hernandez delivered a remarkable curled strike from the right side that looped into the top-left corner of the net to give the Red Wolves their first goal of the season.

Leo Castro, Greenville Triumph SC – #GVLvOMA, 3/12/25: Castro broke onto a pass over the top into the right channel before producing a beautifully judged lob from 25 yards out that left the goalkeeper in no-man’s land.

Karsen Henderlong, FC Naples – #GVLvNAP, 6/7/25: Henderlong produced a brilliant heel-flick finish off a low cross from the right side by Andres Ferrin, catching out the defense with his sharp thinking and execution.

Jordan Chavez, Texoma FC – 93:36 #CHAvTEX, 7/16/25: Chavez seized upon a loose  ball in the attacking third and thundered home a first-time finish from 25 yards into the top-right corner of the net at CHI Memorial Stadium.

Group B

Emiliano Terzaghi, Richmond Kickers – #RICvAV, 3/22/25: The three-time Player of the Year turned back the clock with a sensational finish from the halfway line, lofting his finish into the right side of the net at City Stadium.

Samory Powder, Westchester SC – #SPKvWES, 5/4/25: The Trinidad and Tobago international pulled off a remarkable scissor-kick finish from the penalty spot that clipped the underside of the crossbar and went in at ONE Spokane Stadium.

Isidro Martínez, Union Omaha – #MADvOMA, 6/7/25: Martínez went full send against one of his former clubs for Los Buhos, sending a strike from the center circle sailing into the top-right corner of the net at Breese Stevens Field.

Eduardo Blancas, AV ALTA FC – #AVvNAP, 6/29/25: Blancas provided the exclamation point on his hat trick at The Hangar with a sensational free kick from the top-left edge of the penalty area that clipped the underside of the crossbar and caromed over the goal line.

Group C

Jayden Onen, FC Naples – #CHAvNAP, 5/14/25: Onen produced a tremendous chip from 45 yards that curled over the goalkeeper and into the top-left corner of the net at CHI Memorial Stadium.

Juan Carlos Obregón Jr., Westchester SC – #WESvMAD, 5/17/25: The 2025 Player of the Year intercepted a pass in his own half, quickly looked up and promptly fired a shot that flew almost 70 yards and hit the back of the net for a sensational strike.

Yanis Lelin, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC – #OMAvCHA, 8/9/25: Coming up from the back on the left side, Lelin took on the near-post angle and roofed an unstoppable finish just inside the left post from 25 yards out.

Kempes Tekiela, One Knoxville SC – #KNXvPOR, 10/10/25: The German playmaker delivered a tremendous free kick from more than 25 yards out over the defensive wall and into the top-left corner of the net for the double-winners.

Group D

Julian Cisneros, FC Naples – #AVvNAP, 7/20/25: Cisneros rattled home a brilliant first-time strike in stoppage time at The Hangar, reacting first as a corner kick bounced to the top of the penalty area and driving home a finish to the roof of the net.

Darwin Espinal, Richmond Kickers – #RICvPOR, 9/17/25: Espinal produced a piece of individual brilliance, shifting quickly past two defenders at the top-left edge of the penalty area before curling a shot to the top-right corner.

Stéfano Pinho, Union Omaha – #OMAvNAP, 10/5/25: The Brazilian veteran delivered an outstanding long-range strike, setting himself after receiving possession and launching a curled finish to the top-right corner from 35 yards.

Nathaniel James, Portland Hearts of Pine – #PORvSPK, 10/21/25: The Trinidad and Tobago international fired home a brilliant first-time finish from the top of the penalty area that picked out the top-left corner of the net at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
