19-year-old recorded six goals as part of second-half surge for defending title-holders, becomes third teenage winner of award

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One announced today that Union Omaha’s Mark Bronnik had been voted the 2025 USL League One Young Player of the Year, with the 19-year-old recording a breakout first full season for Los Buhos that helped propel the side to its sixth consecutive postseason berth.

Bronnik led all eligible players for the award with six goals in the regular season at a strike rate of a goal every 156.3 minutes across 27 appearances. He also recorded 43 shots and posted a shooting accuracy rate of 44.4 percent and a shot conversion rate of 16.7 percent while completing 15 dribbles at a 50 percent success rate.

“First off, I want to thank my family for supporting me,” said Bronnik. “They have never stopped believing in me. I’m very grateful to be recognized and to receive the young player of the year award. I also want to thank my teammates, coaches, and staff at Omaha. It’s very hard to find a group and environment as special as this one.”

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Bronnik initially arrived at Union Omaha as a USL Academy signing prior to the start of the 2024 League One season from the Barca Residency Academy in Arizona. After a successful inaugural campaign which saw him score his first goal in the league and log three regular season appearances, he turned pro with Los Buhos at the end of the 2024 season.

Bronnik is the third-youngest player to win the award, earning the honor at 19 years, 4 days of age. Previously, Chicago Fire FC and U.S. Men’s National Team goalkeeper Chris Brady won the award aged 16 years, 8 months and 9 days old competing on loan for Forward Madison FC in 2020, and current Inter Miami CF defender Noah Allen won the award aged 17 years, 6 months and 20 days old competing for Fort Lauderdale CF in 2021.

Bronnik earned the Young Player of the Year award with 52 percent of the ballot, voted on by technical staff from every club in the league following the regular season. Charlotte Independence midfielder Rafael Jauregui finished second with 14 percent of the ballot, while South Georgia Tormenta FC’s Jackson Kasanzu and Chattanooga Red Wolves SC’s Eric Kinzner finished tied for third on 10 percent.

Seven players received votes in the ballot.
