Richmond Kickers’ Simon Fitch earns Player of the Week after three-assist performance against Forward Madison

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the Team of the Week for Week 34 of the 2025 regular season, with Richmond Kickers defender Simon Fitch voted Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball after recording a three-assist game in his side’s season-ending 5-1 victory against Forward Madison FC.

Entering the final game of the regular season out of playoff contention, Fitch and the Kickers nonetheless put on a show for the City Stadium crowd in the final Henny Derby of the season. After going behind to an early Madison goal, Fitch notched his first helper of the game nine minutes before the halftime break to set up Nils Seufert’s equalizer.

Fitch then bagged his second two minutes later, setting up Emiliano Terzaghi’s close range finish to put the Kickers ahead. The right back then combined with Seufert again with 19 minutes to go to wrap up the five-goal performance before a crowd of 5,193 fans, giving the Kickers their first win against the Flamingos this season.

“I think what you saw tonight was what we were capable of – we won the series with Knoxville, we won the series with Omaha,” said Kickers Head Coach Darren Sawatzky. “Both those teams are a challenge for the title, we just couldn’t put it together consistently. A lot of injured guys couldn’t play the whole season so I’m really proud and happy for them.”

Fitch became only the seventh player in USL League One regular season history to record a three-assist game, and the second to do so for the Kickers after Jonathan Bolanos did so against the Charlotte Independence on June 10, 2022 at City Stadium.

GK – Austin Pack, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Pack recorded a six-save shutout while posting a -1.92 Goals Prevented mark in his side’s 3-0 victory against Texoma FC to earn the side’s eighth win in its last nine to close the regular season.

D – Nathan Messer, Portland Hearts of Pine: Messer recorded two goals and one assist across two appearances in the week, helping Hearts of Pine to a club-record win against Spokane Velocity FC, while also winning 10 of 18 duels and completing 57 of 81 passes.

D – Marcelo Lage, Richmond Kickers: Lage found the net once and put in a stellar display in the center of defense for the Kickers, winning 4 of 4 aerial duels and making 11 clearances and four interceptions in his side’s 5-1 victory against Forward Madison FC.

D – Simon Fitch, Richmond Kickers: Fitch became only the seventh player in League One regular season history to record a three-assist game while ending the night with five chances created and completing 38 of 41 passes in the Kickers’ victory against Forward Madison FC.

M – Eduardo Blancas, AV ALTA FC: The 23-year-old scored a pair of spectacular free kick goals to earn Antelope Valley a 2-2 draw against Portland Hearts of Pine on Saturday while recording three shots and two chances created overall and completing 41 of 56 passes.

M – Ollie Wright, Portland Hearts of Pine: The English playmaker recorded a goal and assist and logged 10 chances created across two games for Hearts of Pine while completing 80 of 98 passes as the side earned four points over the final week of the regular season.

M – Nils Seufert, Richmond Kickers: The German recorded a pair of goals and had three shots and one chance created overall in the Kickers’ victory against Forward Madison while also completing 26 of 33 passes and making six recoveries and four clearances defensively.

M – Marc Torrellas, FC Naples: Torrellas dictated the tempo for Naples as it earned a home playoff game with a 2-0 victory against the Charlotte Independence, completing 44 of 50 passes including 11 of 13 in the attacking third while also winning 10 of 15 duels.

F – Adrian Billhardt, Richmond Kickers: Billhardt recorded one goal and one assist while recording five shots and two chances created overall in his side’s win against Forward Madison while also completing 24 of 31 passes and making eight recoveries defensively.

F – Karsen Henderlong, FC Naples: Henderlong scored both goals as Naples took a 2-0 victory against the Charlotte Independence to clinch a home playoff game while also completing 15 of 19 passes and making two recoveries defensively.

F – Jay Tee Kamara, Portland Hearts of Pine: The Sierra Leone playmaker recorded a goal and assist in his side’s 6-1 victory against Spokane Velocity FC while recording three shots, completing 7 of 10 dribbles and winning 9 of 16 ground duels at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

Coach of the Week – Darren Sawatzky, Richmond Kickers: Sawatzky’s squad produced the Kickers’ first five-goal performance in its USL League One era, recording 10 shots on target and a 2.37 Expected Goals mark to earn victory against Forward Madison FC.
