TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One announced on Sunday its Golden Awards for the 2025 regular season, honoring Westchester SC’s Juan Carlos Obregón Jr. as the Golden Boot winner, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC’s Jason Smith as the Golden Glove winner, and Union Omaha’s Charlie Ostrem as the Golden Playmaker winner as the league’s three individual statistical award honorees.
Obregón earned the Golden Boot after recording 17 goals in 29 regular season appearances for the first-year club, finishing three goals clear of FC Naples’ Karsen Henderlong in second place. The Honduran international averaged a goal every 153.4 minutes for Westchester, accounting for 42.5 percent of the side’s goals in its first regular season campaign. Obregón’s 17 goals tied for the third-most goals in a regular season campaign in League One history.
Smith earned the Golden Glove via the shutouts tiebreaker ahead of One Knoxville SC’s Sean Lewis as the two goalkeepers ended the season with a 0.875 goals-against average to conclude the regular season. Smith’s league-leading 11 shutouts gave him the award with Lewis ending the season on 10 clean sheets as the 22-year-old also recorded 43 saves and a save percentage of 67.2 percent to help the Red Wolves finish second in the League One regular season.
Ostrem earned the Golden Playmaker award for the first time as he recorded 10 assists for the defending title-holders to lead the league. The 26-year-old also ranked third in League One with 54 chances created as he became only the fifth player in League One history to record double-digit assists, and the first to do so for Los Buhos. Ostrem finished the season strongly, recording three assists in his final eight appearances to finish one helper ahead of the Charlotte Independence’s Jon Bakero.
Smith and Ostrem are set to feature in the upcoming 2025 USL League One Playoffs presented by Terminix, which kick off this Saturday night with the Quarterfinals. Full details of the bracket and schedule for the opening weekend of games can be found here.
