TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the Team of the Week for Week 32 of the 2025 regular season, with Charlotte Independence forward Christian Chaney named Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball with a goal and an assist in a crucial, 3-2 victory against AV ALTA FC.
Already second in league history with 38 goals, Chaney moved into a tie for the second-most goal contributions at 48 following a one-goal, one-assist performance for the Jacks on Friday. Chaney's goal in the 35th minute and match-winning assist in the third minute of second-half stoppage time have positioned Charlotte within striking distance of its sixth consecutive postseason berth.
GK - Rashid Nuhu, Union Omaha: The former Golden Glove winner and Goalkeeper of the Year recorded eight saves in a scoreless draw against Greenville—a new personal best in a League One regular season contest. Nuhu also completed 91% of his passes, added 12 recoveries and dished out three long balls.
D - Jake Crull, Forward Madison FC: Crull played a key role in Madison's crucial 2-1 victory against Chattanooga on Saturday, assisting Lucca Dourado's go-ahead goal in the first half. The Austrian defender finished the day with 10 clearances, nine duels won, an 83% passing accuracy rate, five accurate long balls, four tackles won, four total chances created, three recoveries and one block.
D - Brandon Fricke, Greenville Triumph SC: The former Defender of the Year secured a scoreless draw against Omaha with a 75% passing accuracy rate, six duels won, four recoveries, three tackles won, three clearances, two shots on target and two blocks.
D - Charlie Ostrem, Union Omaha: Ostrem helped the defending champions to a scoreless road draw against Greenville with a 75% passing accuracy rate, seven duels won, three completed long passes, three interceptions, three fouls won, three recoveries, two tackles won and two clearances.
M - Teddy Baker, Texoma FC: The first-year professional provided his second assist of the season on Saturday, lifting Texoma to a 1-0 victory against Richmond in its final home match of its inaugural campaign. In addition to his assist, Baker registered 11 recoveries, completed 73% of his passes, won four tackles and won four duels.
M - Jon Bakero, Charlotte Independence: Through 68 minutes of a 3-2 victory against Antelope Valley, Bakero notched a goal and an assist. The former MAC Hermann Trophy winner finished with an 81% passing accuracy rate, five duels won, three clearances, three recoveries, three accurate crosses, three tackles won and two shots on target.
M - Joel Johnson, Westchester SC: The former Liberia international paced Westchester to an impressive 2-0 home victory against Naples with 11 recoveries, a 90% passing accuracy rate, four duels won, four interceptions, three tackles won, two completed long passes and two chances created across 86 minutes.
M - Kempes Tekiela, One Knoxville SC: Knoxville's all-time leading scorer tallied his 20th across all competitions for the club, lifting his side to a 3-1 victory against Portland. The 27-year-old German also completed 80% of his passes, won seven duels, added four recoveries and won two fouls.
F - Christian Chaney, Charlotte Independence: The veteran League One goalscorer bagged a goal before assisting Souaibou Marou's stoppage-time winner. The 31-year-old won 13 duels, completed 70% of his passes, won six fouls, created three total chances and added two blocks.
F - Babacar Diene, One Knoxville SC: Diene led Knoxville to a 3-1 victory against Portland at Covenant Health Park with a goal and an assist. The 28-year-old completed 82% of his passes, won five duels, placed three shots on target, won three fouls and added two recoveries.
F - Luis Gil, Spokane Velocity FC: The former United States international converted a penalty kick in Spokane's 1-1 draw against a red-hot South Georgia side. Spokane's all-time leading scorer also completed 73% of his passes, placed three shots on target, won three duels and completed both of his dribbles.
Coach – Matt Glaeser, Forward Madison FC: With the season winding down and Madison's postseason hopes dwindling, Glaeser led his 'Mingos to a much-needed 2-1 victory against a strong Chattanooga squad.
