Discipline Report – Week 24

The following is USL League One's discipline report for Week 24 of the 2025 regular season.

Charlotte Independence forward Juan David Moreno has been suspended for one match following his red card for violent conduct in the regular season match against Greenville Triumph SC on Aug. 9. Moreno will be unavailable for selection in Charlotte's regular season contest against Westchester SC on Friday, Aug. 15.

The following players enter the upcoming matches one caution away from their eighth yellow card of the season and a one-game suspension for caution accumulation.

Here is the breakdown per club:

  • Union Omaha (1): Max Schneider

NEWS & NOTES

STOPPAGE-TIME STUNNERS

Week 23 delivered all the drama thanks to a whopping six result-altering goals in second-half stoppage time. Notably, the defending champions, Omaha, relied on goals in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time in each of their two matches to pick up a week-high four points from losing positions. On the other end, Westchester dropped a week-high five points from winning positions, though the expansion side was able to salvage a point via Juan Carlos Obregón, Jr.'s league-leading 10th goal of the season.

  • Chattanooga 2 - 1 Madison (Aug. 6)
    • 90+4' winner - Zahir Vazquez (CHA)
  • Omaha 2 - 1 Westchester (Aug. 6)
    • 90+6' winner - Taimu Okiyoshi (WES - OG)
  • Omaha 2 - 2 Chattanooga (Aug. 9)
    • 90+6' equalizer - Stéfano Pinho (OMA)
  • Charlotte 4 - 5 Greenville (Aug. 9)
    • 90+6' winner - Ben Zakowski (GVL)
  • Madison 2 - 2 Knoxville (Aug. 9)
    • 90+2' equalizer - Garrett McLaughlin (MAD)
  • Westchester 3 - 3 South Georgia
    • 90+1' equalizer - Juan Carlos Obregón, Jr. (WES)

GOALS GALORE

In the 14th intra-Carolinas clash between Charlotte and Greenville, Triumph SC evened up the all-time series at 7-7-0 with a thrilling 5-4 victory at American Legion Memorial Stadium. In a match that featured five lead changes, Greenville emerged victorious thanks to Ben Zakowski's stoppage-time winner; the nine-goal thriller equaled the record for the second-most goals scored in a single match in league history.

Across the 108 teams that have scored four or more goals in a single League One match, the Independence, unfortunately, are just the second team to end the match without recording a win or a draw.

Regular season League One matches with eight or more total goals:

  • South Georgia 5 - 5 Greenville (7/14/22)
  • Charlotte 4 - 5 Greenville (8/10/25)
  • Richmond 4 - 5 Central Valley (10/14/23)
  • Richmond 4 - 4 Westchester (4/19/25)
  • Lexington 7 - 1 Central Valley (9/19/24)
  • Lexington 3 - 5 Chattanooga (9/24/23)
  • Chattanooga 4 - 4 South Georgia (8/27/23)
  • Central Valley 4 - 4 Madison (8/27/23)
  • Charlotte 6 - 2 Madison (6/26/22)
  • Chattanooga 7 - 1 Charlotte (6/23/22)
  • Fort Lauderdale 4 - 4 South Georgia (10/11/21)

VINTAGE VINYALS

One of six players to participate in the inaugural match who are still active in the league, Spokane's Nil Vinyals is enjoying a productive seventh season in League One.

With back-to-back regular season matches with a goal and an assist, Vinyals has now surpassed former Golden Playmaker Arthur Rogers for the most career assists in League One history (21). The League One veteran's recent production has also bumped him up into a tie for the third-most goal contributions in league history (43).

Most assists in League One history:

  1. Nil Vinyals (RIC/TRM/SPK) – 21
  2. Arthur Rogers (NCO) – 20*

  4. Charlie Dennis (TUC) – 17*
