TAMPA, Fla. – The United Soccer League (USL) today announced the Team of the Round for Round 4 of the 2025 USL Jägermeister Cup, with Louisville City FC defender Jake Morris named Player of the Round with a match-winning, stoppage-time brace against Commonwealth Cup rival Lexington SC.
Entering the match in the 71st minute, the 26-year-old opened his 2025 account with the first brace of his professional career, responding to Lexington's go-ahead goal in the 87th minute with goals in the first and seventh minutes of second-half stoppage time to silence Lexington's club-record crowd of 8,252.
Morris' six-minute brace was the first in USL Jägermeister Cup history to be completed entirely in second-half stoppage time. LouCity's victory also marked the second occasion in the tournament's history that a team entering second-half stoppage time while trailing emerged victorious at full time.
"I think this team is so tight — the culture and everything and a never-say-die attitude," Morris said after the match. "I think it showed, not just with me, but the whole time. The willingness to get the ball in the box, to throw numbers forward, just suffocating them, I think it showed."
The USL Jägermeister Cup's Player of the Round is selected by the USL National Media Panel. Morris finished with 44% of the vote, while Pittsburgh's Bertin Jacquesson and South Georgia's Mason Tunbridge finished tied for second on 22%.
