TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the Team of the Week for Week 15 of the 2025 regular season, with Portland Hearts of Pine midfielder Ollie Wright named Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball with a hat trick against Union Omaha. The honor represents the first Player of the Week recognition for both Wright and Portland.
After securing his first Portland goal against Detroit City FC in the USL Jägermeister Cup on May 31, Wright opened his USL League One account with authority on Sunday. The 26-year-old helped Portland overcome an early deficit against Union Omaha with a 32-minute hat trick to confirm a 3-1 victory against the defending champions.
Not only was Wright's hat trick the first of his professional career and the first in Portland Hearts of Pine history, but it marked just the second time in league history a player has tallied a hat trick against a defending champion.
"That was incredible," Wright said of his performance. "Obviously, the most important thing is the three points. On an individual note, it was a super special night for me. I'm just really happy to get the win, and to get three goals is a special night for sure.
"You've probably seen that throughout the season we've put in good performances as a team, and we felt like once it clicked, the floodgates were going to open. That was the case tonight. We found a lot of success behind the lines, and we're super happy with the performance."
