TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the four nominees for the League One Player of the Month presented by Konami eFootball for May, with top performers from the campaign’s third month selected for the ballot.
Voting for the League One Player of the Month award will be conducted by the following two voting bodies:
The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, June 12.
Please note: The League One Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as League One Player of the Year or position players of the year. Additionally, the selection process takes both USL League One and USL Jägermeister Cup matches into consideration.
Souaibou Marou, Charlotte Independence – The Cameroonian scored five goals in four regular season outings, including a hat trick after coming on as a substitute in the Independence’s comeback victory against Westchester SC, to average a goal every 34.4 minutes.
Juan Carlos Obregón Jr., Westchester SC – The Honduran international recorded five goals and one assist in five appearances across League One and the USL Jägermeister Cup, moving to double-digit goals across all competitions this season, as he averaged a goal every 89.6 minutes for WSC.
Carlos Merancio, Spokane Velocity FC – Merancio recorded two shutouts in three appearances, recording seven saves and allowing only one goal for a save percentage of 88.9 percent while posting a Goals Prevented mark of -2.24 as Velocity won all three contests.
Javier Garcia, Texoma FC – Garcia helped Texoma claim its first two victories in club history, posting 12 saves at a save percentage of 92.1 percent while allowing only one goal and posting a Goals Prevented mark of -1.51 and a pair of shutouts.
