TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the four nominees for the League One Player of the Month presented by Konami eFootball for April, with top performers from the seventh season's second month selected for the ballot.
Voting for the League One Player of the Month award will be conducted by the following two voting bodies:
A fan vote on USLLeagueOne.com will comprise 60% of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, May 5 at 12 p.m. ET.
The USL Technical Committee's ballots comprise 40% of the poll.
The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, May 8.
Please note: The League One Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as League One Player of the Year or position players of the year. Additionally, the selection process takes both USL League One and USL Jägermeister Cup matches into consideration.
F - Darwin Espinal, Richmond Kickers: With a winner against reigning champions Omaha, a goal against league-leaders Naples and a brace against Westchester, Espinal exploded for four goals through as many matches in April. Through 323 minutes, the veteran Honduran goalscorer also recorded 21 duels won, 17 recoveries, an 83% passing accuracy rate, eight fouls won, seven dribbles completed and five tackles won.
F - Karsen Henderlong, FC Naples: The reigning Player of the Month has the opportunity to become the first back-to-back winner in league history after posting match-winning goals against Texoma and Richmond in league play and Charleston in the USL Jägermeister Cup. The 24-year-old also registered 24 duels won, 15 recoveries, a 65% passing accuracy rate, six completed dribbles, five fouls won, five shots on target and four chances created in 314 minutes.
F - Anuar Peláez, Spokane Velocity FC: The 32-year-old Colombian helped Spokane to an unbeaten month in both league and USL Jägermeister Cup play with two goals and two assists through four matches and 314 minutes of action, notably bagging the winner against his former club, Oakland, to close out April. Peláez added 20 duels won, seven fouls won, a 57% passing accuracy rate, five shots on target, five recoveries, four chances created and four dribbles completed.
M - Mason Tunbridge, South Georgia Tormenta FC: The 24-year-old led all League One players with five goal contributions across both league and USL Jägermeister Cup play in April, scoring against Chattanooga, Portland, Charlotte and Greenville. In addition to his five goals through four matches and 265 minutes, Tunbridge recorded 13 duels won, 11 completed long passes, a 72% passing accuracy rate, seven recoveries, six fouls won, six dribbles completed, five shots on target, four successful crosses and three chances created.
