USL Jägermeister Cup is back, Naples set record, Powder brothers go off

USL League One's seventh season is here! Ahead of Week 8 and Round 1 of the 2025 USL Jägermeister Cup, find information for this week's matches, the Discipline Report, News & Notes, and current player, team and league records below.

NEWS & NOTES

MORE OPPORTUNITIES IN USL JÄGERMEISTER CUP

With the expanded USL Jägermeister Cup kicking off this weekend, USL League One teams will be able to face USL Championship opposition in an official competition outside of the U.S. Open Cup. League One clubs have accrued a combined record of 14-36-8 against higher-division opposition, and through penalty kick shootout wins or losses officially go down as draws, there have been 11 instances of League One teams defeating USL Championship opponents in official competition. That list should begin to grow this weekend.

Victories against USL Championship opponents:

  1. El Paso 0 - 3 Madison (5/15/19, U.S. Open Cup)
  2. Central Valley 4 - 1 El Paso (4/5/22, U.S. Open Cup)
  3. Birmingham 0 - 2 South Georgia (4/19/22, U.S. Open Cup)

  11. South Georgia 2 - 1 Rio Grande Valley (4/5/23, U.S. Open Cup)

ONE KNOX EYES ATTENDANCE RECORD

After seven road matches to begin the season, One Knoxville SC will officially move into its new home of Covenant Health Park this weekend. The 6,355-seat, multi-use stadium officially opened on April 15, and One Knox is looking to break an attendance record in its new home on Saturday. Even though Knoxville's matchup with Tulsa on Saturday is a USL Jägermeister Cup contest and won't be eligible to break the regular season league record of 6,000, the fourth-year side seems to be on track to set a record for the highest-attended match hosted by a League One club.

Highest-attended match hosted by League One club, across all competitions:

  1. 6,000 - Richmond vs. South Georgia (10/1/23)
    • City Stadium; USL League One
  2. 6,000 - Richmond vs. Charlotte (4/2/23)

SUPER POWDER BROS.

Richmond and Westchester battled to an exciting 4-4 draw in the pair's first meeting last weekend. Even more exciting, brothers and fellow Trinidad and Tobago internationals, Noah and Samory Powder, helped WSC pick up a point on the road with a combined four goal contributions.

Noah Powder's assist on Samory Powder's goal in the 53rd minute marked the second time in league history that a pair of brothers have connected for a joint goal participation. The Powder brothers are just the fifth pair of brothers to suit up as teammates in a League One match, and the first pair of brothers to be named to the USL League One Team of the Week in the same week.

Brothers as teammates in USL League One regular season:

  1. Arturo Rodriguez + David Rodriguez (NTX, 2019-20)
    • 22 matches, 965 minutes, 2 joint goal participations
  2. Ethan Hardin + Drew Hardin (FTL, 2021)
    • 7 matches, 408 minutes
  3. Samory Powder + Noah Powder (WES, 2025)
    • 4 matches, 290 minutes, 1 joint goal participation
  4. Jonathan Gomez + Johan Gomez (NTX, 2019)
    • 1 match, 28 minutes
  5. Kaoru Fujiwara + Hikaru Fujiwara (NTX, 2020)
    • 1 match, 13 minutes

NAPLES IS FIRST TO NINE

Though Naples fell in a penalty kick shootout to the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the U.S. Open Cup last week and subsequently lost its first league match to Knoxville over the weekend, Naples did set a new league record with nine matches unbeaten across all competitions to begin an inaugural League One season.

Naples also became one of seven clubs to begin any League One season with an unbeaten streak of six or more league matches, and also one of four clubs to begin its inaugural League One season with an unbeaten streak of six or more league matches.

Longest unbeaten streak to begin inaugural League One season, across all competitions:

  1. NAP - 9 (2025)
  2. OMA - 8 (2020)
  3. NTX - 7 (2019)
  4. POR - 4 (2025)
  5. WES - 4 (2025)
  6. TRM - 4 (2019)

The following is USL League One's discipline report for Week 8 of the 2025 regular season.
