TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the Team of the Week for Week 3 of the 2025 regular season with Richmond Kickers forward Emiliano Terzaghi named Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball for the fourth time in his career with a brace in Richmond's home-opening victory against AV ALTA FC.
League One's all-time leading scorer and thrice-consecutive Player of the Year brushed off a missed penalty kick early against AV ALTA FC before turning it on in the second half. The 32-year-old Argentine goalscorer delighted the City Stadium crowd of over 5,500 with an improbable match-winning strike from the halfway line before closing things out with a second score 23 minutes later. With his league-record 11th brace for Richmond, Terzaghi became the first player in league history to score 60 regular season goals.
"I feel great right now, but at the start of the game, I missed the penalty, and it hit me very hard. But we worked, the team heard me, and I was able to score after that and I feel great right now with the team win," Terzaghi said. "I saw the space and I tried, that’s the most important thing - to try anything no matter what. I'm here for six seasons and the fans are amazing every year. They show up no matter what happens."
GK - Johan Garibay, One Knoxville SC: Garibay picked up his ninth clean sheet in his 15 professional match, shutting down Texoma FC's attack in its inaugural League One match. Garibay completed four long passes and led the league with 10 recoveries and five saves.
D - Jaheim Brown, One Knoxville SC: The 23-year-old Jamaican enjoyed a strong outing in Knoxville's 2-0 road victory against Texoma. Brown recorded six duels won, four chances created, three recoveries, three tackles won and three clearances.
D - Brecc Evans, FC Naples: Evans helped Naples hand Spokane just its second shutout loss at home in club history. The former League One champion completed 84% of his passes and added seven clearances, four completed long passes, three recoveries and two duels won.
D - Maxi Schenfeld, Richmond Kickers: Schenfeld provided his second assist on the young season to help Richmond defeat AV ALTA FC at City Stadium. The 32-year-old also tallied seven duels won, six recoveries, two completed dribbles and an 82% passing accuracy rate.
D - Derek Waldeck, Spokane Velocity FC: Despite Velocity FC's 1-0 loss to Naples, Waldeck anchored the Spokane backline and provided seven duels won, four chances created, four accurate crosses, three tackles won, three recoveries and an 84% passing accuracy rate.
M - Alexis Cerritos, AV ALTA FC: Cerritos recorded the first League One goal in AV ALTA FC history, tapping in a rebounded ball early against Richmond. The former El Salvador international went on to complete 90% of his passes and total four recoveries, two completed dribbles and two duels won.
M - Mark Doyle, One Knoxville SC: In his first start for Knoxville, Doyle scored the match-winner in the 24th minute before adding an assist on Kempes Tekiela's second-half score. In Doyle's first multi-goal-contribution match since October 2021, the Irish midfielder added seven duels won, three fouls won and three recoveries. Per American Soccer Analysis, Doyle led all players with a 0.62 goals-added value.
M - Chandler O'Dwyer, Richmond Kickers: The Kickers' leading scorer from a season ago tallied his second goal of the season to help Richmond defeat Antelope Valley, 2-0. O'Dwyer went on to tally three fouls won, three shots on target, three tackles won and a league-leading 10 duels won.
F - Karsen Henderlong, FC Naples: Henderlong scored his fourth goal in as many matches for unbeaten newcomers Naples, bagging a 54th-minute winner against Spokane and finishing with eight duels won, two shots on target, two clearances and two recoveries.
F - Kempes Tekiela, One Knoxville SC: Tekiela tallied the fourth two-goal-contribution match of his Knoxville career, providing the assist on Mark Doyle's winner before adding a second-half goal against Texoma. The German forward contributed with an additional three duels won and one recovery.
F - Emiliano Terzaghi, Richmond Kickers: The league's all-time leading scorer overcame a slow start to the season and the match to bag his 11th Richmond brace. The 32-year-old goalscorer finished with five duels won, four fouls won, three shots on target and three recoveries.
Coach - Matt Poland, FC Naples: In his first venture as a professional head coach, Poland has Naples unbeaten across all competitions following a 1-0 victory in Spokane. Poland's side led the league in goal differential above expected goal differential (1.16) and points won above expected (1.76), per American Soccer Analysis.
