PORTLAND, Maine - Portland Hearts of Pine today announced it has signed veteran USL League One goalscorer Jake Keegan ahead of its first competitive match in the U.S. Open Cup on Thursday.

After spending time with Greenville Triumph SC, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC, One Knoxville SC and Forward Madison FC, Keegan has tallied the third most goals in League One regular season play (30) and is among the top 10 players all-time in goal contributions (42, T-2nd), shots on target (90, 3rd), appearances (135, 6th) and minutes played (9,723, 10th).

Keegan will have the opportunity to join Greenville Triumph SC's D.J. Benton and AV ALTA FC's Carlos Avilez as the only players in league history to appear in regular season action for five different League One clubs.

Keegan, who grew up in New York and starred at Binghamton University, originally earned his reputation overseas. After helping Galway United FC win promotion to the League of Ireland Premier Division in 2014, Keegan became one of the leading scorers in the Irish top flight, with his 12 goals ranking third in the competition. Keegan returned to North America in 2016, guiding FC Edmonton to a playoff berth in the NASL.

Keegan went back to the Irish Premier Division in 2018, playing with St. Patrick's Athletic FC for one season before signing on with Greenville in 2019, later helping Greenville win the 2020 USL League One Players' Shield and USL League One title.

During his time with Greenville (2019-20, 2022), Northern Colorado (2024), Knoxville (2023) and Madison (2021), Keegan accumulated 32 goals and 12 assists through 153 appearances across all competitions.
