SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Velocity FC today announced it has signed 29-year-old Grenada international forward Shavon John-Brown, pending league and federation approval.

"We are really excited to welcome Shavon to the team," said Spokane Head Coach Leigh Veidman. "He brings a different dimension to our attack with power, pace and directness which he showed with five goals and three assists last season with Central Valley Fuego FC. He has proven he can be a real attacking threat in this league and adds to the firepower we will be bringing into the roster this season which the fans should stay tuned for."

Born in Montréal, Québec and raised in St. Patrick, Grenada, John-Brown's career started in 2011 with GFA Premier League side Hard Rock FC. Between 2014 and 2020, John-Brown spent time with several amateur and collegiate teams in the United States: Bryant & Stratton College (2014-15), Alderson Broaddus University (2016-17), Charlotte Eagles (2017), Crown City Strikers (2018), the Brooklyn Italians (2018, 2019), the New York Pancyprian-Freedoms (2018). John-Brown also briefly joined German lower-division side 1. FCA Darmstadt in 2019.

John-Brown began playing professionally in the United States in NISA with the New York Cosmos (2019-21) and New Amsterdam FC (2021-22). In 2022, John-Brown made 13 appearances with USL Championship side El Paso Locomotive FC before returning to the amateur ranks with the EPSL's New York Pancyprian-Freedoms and the USPL's New York Renegades FC in 2023.

John-Brown enjoyed one of the most productive seasons of his professional career with former League One side Central Valley Fuego FC a season ago, recording five goals and three assists in 28 appearances with the side. In three matchups with Spokane in 2024, John-Brown helped Central Valley to an unbeaten 2-0-1 record against the newcomers with a match-winning goal in the USL Jägermeister Cup and a match-winning assist in league play.

"Competing for Spokane Velocity FC at the highest level while being encouraged by the amazing fans," John-Brown said of what he was looking forward to with the club. "Additionally, pushing for playoffs but this time pushing for home playoff matches and a title."

A Grenada international, John-Brown has made 39 senior national team appearances for the Spice Boys and recorded four goals and five assists. The forward has made appearances in international friendly, Concacaf Nations League, FIFA World Cup qualification, CFU Caribbean Cup and Concacaf Gold Cup play.
