SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Velocity FC today announced it has signed 2024 USL League One All-League Second Team defender David García, pending league and federation approval.

The 24-year-old Spaniard has won a trophy in each of his first two seasons as a professional, helping North Carolina FC win a league title in 2023 and captaining Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC to victory in the inaugural USL Jägermeister Cup a season ago.

A native of Palma de Mallorca, Spain, García spent his youth as a member of La Liga side RCD Mallorca's academy. For three seasons, García was the captain of Mallorca's U-19 team and appeared in every match the club played.

García moved to the United States in 2019 to play collegiately at Florida International University. With the Panthers, García was named to the All-Conference USA Third Team and All-C-USA Freshman Team after a stellar freshman campaign that saw him log the fourth most minutes on the team. After a shortened 2020-21 season that saw García named All-Conference, García would earn All-Conference again in 2021, this time being named to the All-Conference USA Second Team.

In his senior season, García was named the Panthers' captain and started every match, helping lead the Panthers to a conference tournament championship and their first appearance in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in 19 seasons. Garcia would earn all-conference honors for the fourth consecutive season.

García finished his collegiate career with FIU in 2022, where he helped the Panthers win the American Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Defensive Player in the process.

García was a USL League One champion with North Carolina FC in 2023, his first professional season. Notably, he scored a pair of goals in the USL League One Semifinal against Northern Colorado, knocking his future side out of the playoffs. He also played a key role in NCFC's lone goal in the USL League One Final. In 29 appearances for NCFC across all competitions in 2023, García scored three goals.

García joined former League One side Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC in 2024 and registered four goals and one assist in 33 appearances across all competitions. García helped the Hailstorm claim the inaugural USL Jägermeister Cup.

"We are excited to add David to the back line this year, he has shown incredible value over the past two years with the Hailstorm in winning the USL Jägermeister Cup in 2024 and with North Carolina in winning the USL League One title in 2023," said Spokane Head Coach Leigh Veidman. "He brings a good balance of a defending-first mentality with quality on the ball but most importantly, a winning mentality and a real leader on the pitch."

"My goal is to win a championship again, and I believe that Spokane is the best club in the league," García said. "I'm excited about playing in front of our amazing fans and to make them proud. We will achieve big things together this year!"
