SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Velocity FC today announced the first new addition to its 2025 roster, signing USL League One veteran and 28-year-old midfielder Marky Hernández, pending league and federation approval.

Hernández played collegiately at Golden West College (2015-17) and California State University, Fullerton (2017-19). At Golden West, he made 17 appearances and scored nine goals, and and at Cal State Fullerton, he scored four goals in 40 appearances. In his senior year, he was named to the All-Big West Second Team with the Titans.

Hernández developed with former MLS side Chivas USA and made two appearances with the club's second team in the MLS Reserve League between 2013-14. He made one appearance with former USL Championship side Reno 1868 FC in the 2019 U.S. Open Cup.

The midfielder's career took off when he joined USL League One side Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in 2020. In a pair of seasons in Tennessee, Hernández made 36 appearances and recorded nine goals and seven assists.

Between 2022-24, Hernández was a member of former League One club Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC. Across all competitions in Colorado, Hernández registered 17 goals and 10 assists through 90 appearances and helped the Hailstorm win the inaugural USL Jägermeister Cup.

"I love the feeling of a hard-earned match win, but I'm most excited for the fans, playing for a playoff team, and lifting the playoff trophy with this season's team," Hernández said.

"Regardless of his role on the team, Marky has a team-first mentality, which is important to the success of any team at any level," Spokane Head Coach Leigh Veidman said. "He does this while still producing, which can be a huge difference maker for any team. We are excited to have Marky's experience and versatility added to our roster."
