MADISON, Wis. - Forward Madison FC today announced the signing of 29-year-old Mexican midfielder José Carrera-García, pending league and federation approval. The former All-League First Team selection has spent the past four seasons in USL League One.
"José is a proven USL League One leader and performer," said Madison Head Coach and Technical Director Matt Glaeser. "We think his character and mentality align with our core beliefs and we feel that his qualities in and out of possession will help us accomplish our goals for 2025."

A League One veteran, Carrera-García was a member of Chattanooga Red Wolves SC between 2021-22 and Central Valley Fuego FC between 2023-24. In 115 appearances across all competitions with the pair, Carrera-García recorded 10 goals and 14 assists. As a captain for Chattanooga, the midfielder was named to the 2022 All-League First Team and led the Red Wolves to the 2022 USL League One Final.
In 2020, Carrera-García played for USL Championship side Las Vegas Lights FC, providing a pair of assists through 13 appearances.
In 2018, Carrera-García began his first professional career with Celaya FC in Liga de Expansión MX. In a pair of seasons in Mexico, Carrera-García made 22 appearances with the club and registered one assist.
Carrera-García played collegiately at the University of California, Berkeley. During his time with the Golden Bears, he started in 71 of the 72 matches that he played for the team, tallying 17 goals and 29 assists. Carrera-García also received multiple honors during his time in college, including United Soccer Coaches NCAA All-Far West Region First Team, All-Pac-12 First Team and Pac-12 Player of the Week.
