PORTLAND, Maine - Portland Hearts of Pine today announced the signings of midfielder Kemali Green and defender Colby Quiñones, pending league and federation approval.
24-year-old midfielder Kemali Green joins Portland on his first professional contract. Green spent time with the Philadelphia Union Academy before playing collegiately at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania (2019) and Temple University (2021-24). Green was named to the 2019 PSAC All-Conference Second Team at Lock Haven and the 2024 AAC All-Conference Second Team at Temple.
"I've heard amazing things about Maine, from its beautiful landscapes to its passionate soccer fans," Green said. "As for Hearts of the Pine, the club's culture and ambition stood out to me. There's a clear commitment to building something special, and I wanted to be a part of that, especially with a coach like Bobby [Murphy] who has a ton of experience. To be able to tap into his knowledge every day and the opportunity to play for a club with such a strong sense of community and purpose was key."
21-year-old defender Colby Quiñones returns to USL League One after making his professional debut in the league in 2020 with New England Revolution II. Quiñones has spent the entirety of his professional career with the Revs' reserve team, totaling 92 appearances with the side across all competitions.
On the international stage, Quiñones has made 11 appearances for Puerto Rico across Concacaf Nations League and FIFA World Cup qualification play.
"I was born in Biddeford, Maine but moved when I was young," Quiñones said. "I look forward to creating lasting memories with the team, the fans and the City of Portland. Seeing the community and culture of Portland embrace this new team is so exciting and made this move a no-brainer for me."
