NAPLES, Fla. - FC Naples today announced the signing of goalkeepers Tony Halterman and Joel Serrano, pending league and federation approval. The 33-year-old and 25-year-old respective shot-stoppers both previously played under Naples Head Coach Matt Poland at Chicago House AC.
Tony Halterman has been a stalwart in goal for Chicago House AC in recent years. His standout performances included a crucial double save in stoppage time against Bavarian United SC during the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, boosting his reputation as a reliable last line of defense.
Halterman's signing marks a reunion with Matt Poland, with whom he previously collaborated with in Finland and at Chicago House AC.
"Tony is a veteran player who has been with me in three different clubs," Poland said. "He will bring the experience, mentality and locker room culture that we need as we build in this inaugural season."
Joel Serrano has been a key figure for the Puerto Rico national team, earning 21 caps to date. In 2024, he started in eight of Puerto Rico's matches, showcasing his reliability and skill at the international level. He's made appearances in the Concacaf Nations League as well as FIFA World Cup and Concacaf Gold Cup qualification with El Huracán Azul.
At the club level, the Arecibo, Puerto Rico native began his professional career with Liga Puerto Rico side Bayamón FC in 2022 before making three appearances in NISA with the LA Force in 2023. Serrano also spent time in the United States with Marshalltown Community College, Mercy University, Florida Tropics SC and Chicago House AC.
"Joel is a goalie who has excelled for his national team," Poland said. "He is highly professional and offers a different set of skills to our goalkeeping corps."
