MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - Westchester SC announced the signing of three Dutch-born players in forward Koen Blommestijn and midfielders Daniel Bouman and Dean Diego Guezen, pending league and federation approval. All three developed in the youth ranks of Dutch Eredivisie sides.
"We continue to look for young, athletic professionals who will be able to play at the highest level in the system we are building, and these three - Daniel, Dean and Koen - are great fits for our plan," said Simon Baines, Sporting Director of WSC. "Their knowledge of the game and their level of professionalism will complement the players with USL experience we have already signed, and should fit well in what is quickly becoming a very talented roster."
25-year-old Dutch forward Koen Blommestijn developed with AFC Ajax's amateur side Ajax Zaterdag in 2019, netting five goals in his first seven matches for the fourth-tier side. Blommestijn joined second-division Dutch side FC Volendam in 2020, progressing from the reserve team to the first team in less than two years. He made his professional debut with Volendam in the Eerste Divisie in February 2021. Through 37 matches with Volendam's first and reserve teams, Blommestijn totaled 25 goal contributions.
Between 2022 and 2024, Blommestijn was sent on a pair of loans from Volendam. He spent the 2022-23 season with fellow Eerste Divisie side SC Telstar, scoring twice in 13 matches, before moving to Dutch third-division side Quick Boys where he recorded seven goals in 13 appearances.
Born in the Netherlands before growing up in Australia, 26-year-old Australian-Dutch midfielder Daniel Bouman spent time with FC Groningen's youth teams between 2014 and 2019, providing 34 goal contributions across 87 matches for Groningen's U-19 and U-21 teams.
After a brief stint with Dutch side SC Cambuur, Bouman returned to Australia and signed with the A-League's Central Coast Mariners. Bouman made his professional debut in the top-flight league on Jan. 3, 2021, providing an 89th-minute assist in a 2-0 victory against Macarthur FC.
Bouman made 26 appearances for the Mariners across all competitions in the 2020-21 season before joining Super League Greece 2 side Kavala FC in 2022. Bouman spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons with second-division Australian side Marconi Stallions FC, winning the 2024 National Premier Leagues NSW title. Bouman also represented Australia at the youth international level at the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship.
26-year-old Amsterdam native and midfielder Dean Diego Guezen developed with several Dutch clubs, notably spending a number of years within Feyenoord Rotterdam youth system. He made his professional debut with second-division Dutch side TOP Oss in 2020 and spent the next three seasons in the Eerste Divisie with TOP and later PEC Zwolle. Between 2023 and 2024, the midfielder represented Polish second-division side Zagłębie Sosnowiec.
