PAPILLON, Neb. - Union Omaha and Spokane Velocity FC each had history in their sights on Sunday afternoon at Werner Park.
After just two-and-a-half minutes, the experience of Los Buhos had tilted the 2024 USL League One Final in their favor.
Omaha went on to a 3-0 victory against Velocity before a League One Final record crowd of 5,849 fans to become the first team in League One history to lift the trophy on multiple occasions.
Omaha started the match with a bang as midfielder Max Schneider got on the end of a near-post cross off a corner from the right by Joe Gallardo in just the third minute of play to go up 1-0, the earliest goal Omaha had scored this season. The hosts doubled their lead in similar fashion in the 19th minute as Gallardo’s delivery into the six-yard area wasn’t cleared by Velocity, allowing Pedro Dolabella to pounce and bury the opportunity to extend his side’s lead.
Spokane settled into the game in the run of play, but were unable to find a cutting edge in the attacking third. With 19 minutes to play, though, Omaha put the game away as forward Lagos Kunga brought down a cross that had been flicked on by a defender at the top of the six-yard area, shook his defender as he cut toward the byline and finished with an outside-of-the-foot strike with his left foot to seal the win.

Joe Gallardo, Union Omaha – The wingback was integral to both Omaha’s attacking and defensive play, assisting the opening goal with a cross beautifully whipped to the back post and onto Max Schneider. Gallardo alone created four chances for his team, also playing a big part in the team’s clean sheet.
