PAPILLION, Neb. - No. 1 Union Omaha erased an early deficit to top No. 4 Greenville Triumph SC at Werner Park, 2-1, to advance to a record-tying third USL League One Final across its five seasons of existence. After falling to the fourth seed in the Semifinals as the Players' Shield winners a season ago, the Owls flipped the script a year later - this time against rival Greenville - in the first rematch in USL League One Playoffs history.
The Owls started the match slowly, as League One all-time appearance leader Evan Lee put Greenville up in the eighth minute after tucking away a cross from Tyler Polak - the second time in as many matches the Greenville veterans had connected for a goal. The Owls switched on shortly after, creating a handful of goalscoring opportunities but largely failing to convert, even forcing Triumph SC goalkeeper Gunther Rankenburg to make a triple save in the 27th minute.
In the 42nd minute, Omaha found the back of the net as Aarón Gómez put away a tight finish to equalize. With pressure mounting for both teams, it was eventually Omaha that jumped in front. Bermuda international midfielder Zeiko Lewis got on the end of a long ball over Greenville's backline and placed it into the corner of the goal in the 58th minute, with the score holding until the final minute.
Aarón Gómez (OMA) – The veteran forward contributed to both Omaha goals, looping the ball into the back of the net with a tight finish for the initial equalizer before providing the assist on Zeiko Lewis' match-winning goal in the second half. The strong outing for Gómez marked the 14th multi-goal-contribution match of his career and his second for the Owls.
