USL League One Player of the Month Nominees - October

Quartet of playoff-bound stars concluded regular season in style

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the four nominees for the League One Player of the Month presented by Konami eFootball for October, with top performers from the sixth season's final month selected for the ballot.

Voting for the League One Player of the Month award will be conducted by the following two voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLLeagueOne.com will comprise 60% of the poll. The fan vote will run through Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m. ET.

  • The USL Technical Committee's ballots comprise 40% of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, Nov. 7.

Please note: The League One Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as League One Player of the Year or position players of the year. Additionally, the selection process does not take USL Jägermeister Cup matches into consideration.

USL LEAGUE ONE PLAYER OF THE MONTH NOMINEES – October

  • GK - Lalo Delgado, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC: The 26-year-old helped Northern Colorado confirm its first top-two finish with a stellar October consisting of 21 saves, four clean sheets and only one goal conceded through 447 minutes of a perfect 5-0-0 month. Delgado is the first goalkeeper in league history to record 20 or more saves and concede one or fewer goals in a single month, and his four clean sheets are tied for the second-most in a single month in league history. Per American Soccer Analysis, Delgado led all goalkeepers in goals conceded below expected (2.99) and goals added (3.44).
  • F - Aarón Gómez, Union Omaha: Reuniting with former El Paso Locomotive FC assistant Dominic Casciato in Omaha over the offseason, Gómez capped off his first regular season with the Owls by equaling a career-best four goal contributions in a single month. The veteran Mexican goalscorer helped Omaha lock up its third USL League One Players' Shield with three goals, one assist, eight duels won, five shots on target, six recoveries, four fouls won, three total chances created, and he completed over 84% of his passes across 267 minutes.
  • M - Lyam MacKinnon, Greenville Triumph SC: The 25-year-old Swiss star claimed the USL League One Golden Boot through his league-leading four goals and two penalties won in October. Across 283 minutes of play, MacKinnon provided 14 duels won, 10 recoveries, eight completed long passes, eight fouls won, seven shots on target, seven chances created and four tackles won. MacKinnon led all players with his 4.11 expected goals plus expected assists total, per American Soccer Analysis.
  • F - Juan Carlos Obregón, Jr., Charlotte Independence: The Honduras international wrapped up the most prolific regular season of his professional career with a three-goal October. Obregón, Jr. provided 10 duels won, six recoveries, six fouls won, five shots on target, and completed over 82% of his passes across 359 minutes of play to guide the Independence to their fifth consecutive postseason appearance.
