Rapper and singer Jack Harlow has always known that Louisville City FC is what’s poppin’ (!) in his hometown. He’s been a regular fixture at matches at Lynn Family Stadium. And this past weekend, he joined LouCity’s ownership group.

Harlow isn’t the first musician to invest in a USL club. In recent years, a previously unimaginable supergroup of hip-hop stars, DJs, and rockers have joined the soccer movement by becoming part-owners of teams in the USL Championship and League One.

Check out who else is in the band:

Billie Joe Armstrong, Oakland Roots SC – Already a Bay Area legend, Green Day’s frontman bought into Oakland Roots & Soul last year. The group’s Punk Bunny Coffee recently partnered with the club on an initiative that benefits the Roots & Soul Foundation.

Iggy Pop, Detroit City FC – The punk-rock icon didn’t just buy into Detroit City when it opened the opportunity for fans to buy an equity stake in the club in 2020, he cut a promo in his own inimitable style telling others to join him.

Diplo, Phoenix Rising FC – The Championship’s OG musician/owner, DJ and producer Diplo invested in Rising in January 2016 and was part of the group that transformed the club into the juggernaut it is today. For his efforts, he was honored with the greatest giveaway a club can bestow: a bobblehead night.

Elliott Yamin, Orange County SC – The Los Angeles native’s career was launched after wowing audiences on American Idol. In 2023, he invested in OCSC having previously performed the national anthem at Championship Soccer Stadium.

G-Eazy, Oakland Roots SC – Oakland hip-hop legend G-Eazy joined the club’s ownership in 2022 having seen first-hand the impact Roots and Soul were having in his hometown.

Pete Wentz, Phoenix Rising FC – Despite his Chicago roots, the Fall Out Boy bassist and songwriter became part of Rising’s ownership group in 2016. We’re still waiting on his bobblehead night.

Nick Hexum, Union Omaha – Having grown up in Omaha, the 311 frontman joined Los Buhos’ ownership group last September. He’s since been regularly seen in Union gear on stage.
