STATESBORO, Ga. - South Georgia Tormenta FC today announced the signing of defender Curtis Thorn for the remainder of the 2024 season. Thorn is active on the roster and available for selection ahead of the Aug. 17 match against Northern Colorado.

"I am beyond excited to be back at the club where it all started for me. This place has a special place in my heart for more reasons than one. Spoke with a few members of the group already and it's a real good bunch," Thorn said. "Ian [Cameron], in my opinion, is the best coach in the league, and I'm so happy to be under his guidance once more. I can't wait to contribute and help the team in any way that I can."

The Borden, England native spent the early portion of his career in the youth academies of Fulham FC (2007-09) and Havant & Waterlooville FC (2013-15) before playing with non-league sides Alton FC (2016-17) and Solent University FC (2013-15). Thorn moved to the United States in 2018 to play collegiately at NCAA Division II school Nova Southeastern University (2018-19) and spent time in the NPSL with the New Orleans Jesters in 2019.

Thorn is no stranger to South Georgia, having played with USL League Two's South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 team in 2019 and Tormenta FC's USL League One side from 2020-22. Thorn was an integral feature of the USL League One Final-winning 2022 roster. In Thorn's three seasons with Tormenta FC's professional side, he made 59 appearances across all competitions and registered three goals and three assists across 4,805 minutes.

Departing from Tormenta FC after the 2022 season, Thorn joined USL Championship side Miami FC for 2023, where he made 18 appearances across all competitions. Thorn contributed two assists for Miami, as well. While playing at FIU Stadium with Miami FC, Thorn served as the Director of Analytics & Video Analysis for the Panthers' men's soccer team.

"Curtis brings in a unique blend of hunger and maturity to our team, which is rare to find in a player, so we knew when the timing was right, we wanted to see him join our team again," Tormenta FC President and Co-Owner Darin Van Tassell said.
