TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced that the Charlotte Independence's Mike Jeffries has been named the League One Coach of the Month for July. Jeffries' Jacks led all teams with three wins and nine points across a perfect 3-0-0 July, earning the long-time Independence gaffer his fourth Coach of the Month honor (USL Championship - October 2021, USL League One - March 2023, USL League One - April 2024).
"While I am honored to receive this award, the credit goes to the players, who showed a strong mentality and resilience in winning three tough road games, and who have pushed themselves hard in the heat of the Charlotte summer," Jeffries said. "In addition, I would like to thank my staff – Dave Carton, Dave Dixon, Blake Ellis, Jay Lockhart, Lindsay Jones and Matt Crews; they put an amazing amount of time and energy into each day helping keep me and the team focused and on task."
Featuring a trio of road victories against Northern Colorado, Chattanooga and Spokane, the Independence registered two clean sheets and led the league with seven goals scored, a +5 goal differential and a shooting accuracy rate of 64%. Per American Soccer Analysis, Jeffries' side led all teams with 5.92 points won above expected and a goal differential above expected goal differential value of 5.32.
Jeffries becomes the fifth coach in USL League One history to be named Coach of the Month twice in a single season (Eric Quill (NTX) - 2019, John Harkes (GVL) - 2020, Ian Cameron (TRM) - 2022, Éamon Zayed (NCO) - 2023).
Jeffries was selected as League One's Coach of the Month by the USL League One Technical Committee.
