TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the Team of the Week for Week 14 of the 2024 regular season with Chattanooga Red Wolves SC forward Ropapa Mensah named Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball with a 10-minute brace against Richmond.
Mensah opened the scoring in the first minute of action against Richmond on Saturday before completing his brace in the 10th minute. While Mensah's side fell short against Charlotte on Tuesday, the Red Wolves' victory over Richmond on Saturday pushed the League One original into a postseason position for the first time since March.
In total, Chattanooga led all teams with three starters on the Team of the Week, while Charlotte, Omaha, Knoxville and South Georgia also placed multiple representatives on the Team of the Week.
COACH - Mike Jeffries, Charlotte Independence: Despite going down a man in the 71st minute on the road, Charlotte's Jeffries guided the Jacks to a 2-0 victory against Chattanooga. According to American Soccer Analysis, Charlotte maintained the highest goal differential above expected goal differential (2.56) and points won above expected (2.66).
GK - Austin Pack, Charlotte Independence: The reigning USL League One Goalkeeper of the Year recorded his seventh clean sheet of the season across all competitions on Tuesday. Pack made eight saves, saved one penalty kick attempt and added nine recoveries. Pack's 2.26 goals conceded below expected and 2.28 goals added value were the most among goalkeepers in Week 14, per American Soccer Analysis.
D - Luca Mastrantonio, Union Omaha: The towering Italian defender guided Omaha to its sixth clean sheet of the season across all competitions against Greenville on Saturday. Mastrantonio added eight duels won, seven completed long passes, six clearances, three recoveries and two fouls won.
D - Jordan Skelton, One Knoxville SC: The 2023 USL League One Defender of the Year finalist helped Knoxville hold Northern Colorado scoreless in a 1-0 victory for the hosts. Skelton contributed with an additional 10 clearances, four completed long passes, four recoveries, four duels won and a 94% passing completion rate.
D - Declan Watters, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Following a debut professional season with Swedish side Vänersborgs IF a season ago, Watters has found success in his first season with the Red Wolves. Across a pair of Week 14 matches, the Irish defender tallied eight completed long passes, six duels won, six recoveries and completed over 86% of his passes.
M - Ates Diouf, Lexington SC: The 2023 USL League One All-League forward scored the opening goal in his side's 2-1 loss against South Georgia on Saturday. The 24-year-old added five recoveries, four chances created, two completed dribbles and completed 88% of his passes.
M - Pedro Dolabella, Union Omaha: Enjoying the most productive season of his three-year professional career, Dolabella netted his 10th goal of the season across all competitions against Greenville on Saturday. In addition to registering the match-winning score, the Brazilian added six recoveries, five duels won, three completed long passes and two fouls won.
M - Pedro Fonseca, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Already constructing the eighth multi-goal-contribution match of his young professional career, Fonseca lifted South Georgia to a late victory in Lexington with one goal, one assist, four duels, won, three recoveries and three fouls won. Fonseca's 100% passing accuracy led all players (min. 90 minutes), and the Brazilian led all players with a goals-added value of 0.58, according to American Soccer Analysis.
M - Omar Gómez, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: The third-year professional and second-year Red Wolf played 152 minutes in Week 14 and accumulated eight recoveries, seven completed long passes, four fouls won, two chances created, and a week-high 21 tackles won and 10 duels won.
M - Joel Johnson, Charlotte Independence: Charlotte's all-time appearances leader scored his fourth goal of the season - the match-winner against Chattanooga - in his 204th appearance with the club. The 31-year-old added two chances created, two completed long passes, two recoveries and completed 100% of his 22 passes.
F - Ropapa Mensah, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Mensah produced the 11th multi-goal-contribution match of his career with a brace against Richmond. Across a pair of Week 14 matches, Mensah totaled nine duels won, four chances created, three shots on target and three recoveries.
F - Emiliano Terzaghi, Richmond Kickers: After missing the first few months of the season, the league's all-time leading scorer has now scored in back-to-back matches. Terzaghi scored the lone goal in Richmond's 3-1 loss at Chattanooga and also added five duels won, five fouls won, four recoveries and completed 81% of his passes.
