Greenville's Lyam MacKinnon named Player of the Round with fourth Greenville brace

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced the Team of the Round for Round 4 of the 2024 USL Jägermeister Cup with Greenville Triumph SC midfielder Lyam MacKinnon named Player of the Round presented by Konami eFootball with a brace against South Georgia.

After South Georgia and Greenville maintained a 1-1 contest through the first 80 minutes of the 21st meeting between the Peach States Derby rivals, Lyam MacKinnon scored twice in nine minutes to help Triumph SC confirm a fourth consecutive victory against Tormenta FC. In the match, MacKinnon - now tied with Jake Keegan and Jacob Labovitz for the second-most goals in Greenville history across all competitions - notched his fourth brace with Triumph SC.

In total, seven clubs earned representation on the Team of the Round, with Northern Colorado leading all clubs with four starters. Aside from the Hailstorm, Omaha, Central Valley, Charlotte, Knoxville and Greenville also saw multiple players named to the Team of the Round.

COACH - Rick Wright, Greenville Triumph SC: The first-year head coach guided Greenville to its fourth consecutive victory against Peach States Derby rival South Georgia to remain atop the East Group standings - Triumph SC's sixth unbeaten match across its last eight.

GK - Austin Pack, Charlotte Independence: The 2023 USL League One Goalkeeper of the Year registered three saves in a shutout victory against Richmond. Pack completed 15 long passes - the most of any player in Round 4 - and conceded 0.45 goals below expected.

D - Jalen Crisler, One Knoxville SC: Crisler tallied his first goal of the season in the form of a match-winning score against rival Lexington on Saturday. The 2022 USL League One All-League First Team defender completed 91% of his passes, won six duels, won four tackles and registered three clearances.

D - Lucky Opara, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC: Opara helped the Hailstorm defeat Ice and Fire Cup rival Central Valley for the fifth consecutive time, providing an assist, completing 87% of his passes, recording seven recoveries, and winning three duels. Opara's 4.45 passing score was the highest on the week, according to American Soccer Analysis.

D - Ferrety Sousa, Forward Madison FC: The 2021 USL League One champion recorded an assist - his second for Madison since joining over the offseason - on Juan Galindrez's special match-winning score against Chattanooga. The USL Championship and NASL veteran completed 77% of his passes and tallied five duels won, three clearances, two clearances and two fouls won to help Madison maintain a clean sheet. 

M - Robert Coronado, Central Valley Fuego FC: After five seasons in the USL Championship, the first-year Fuego FC man recorded his fourth goal of the season on Saturday to match a career-high. Coronado also contributed with an assist, won three duels and completed 85% of his passes.

M - Billy King, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC: The former Hearts and Rangers goalscorer registered the sixth multi-assist match of his decorated career, providing a pair of helpers in Northern Colorado's 4-3 victory against Central Valley. King created a week-high four chances in total, completed 80% of his passes and added four duels won.

M - Lyam MacKinnon, Greenville Triumph SC: Off to the best start to a season in his young professional career, MacKinnon registered his fourth brace with Greenville in a 3-1 victory against Peach States Derby rival South Georgia. MacKinnon also won seven duels, completed three dribbles and created two chances.

M - PC, Union Omaha: The USL Championship, NASL and MLS veteran provided his second assist for the Owls since joining over the offseason. PC helped the Owls to a big victory over Spokane with a 95% passing completion rate, three crosses completed and two duels won. 

M - Bruno Rendón, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC: On an insane run, the Cuban has scored six goals across his last five matches. Rendón scored the opening goal against Central Valley and added seven duels won, five recoveries, a week-high three shots on target and two chances created. Rendón's 0.91 goals-added value was the highest on the week, per American Soccer Analysis.

F - Ethan Hoard, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC: The first-year professional scored his sixth goal of the season across all competitions on Saturday, recording one goal, one assist, three recoveries, three duels won, all while completing 85% of his passes.

F - Steevan Dos Santos, Union Omaha: In his first match back from injury since May 4, Dos Santos - despite playing only 26 minutes - tallied a goal, an assist and a penalty won. The 34-year-old completed 80% of his passes, won two duels and earned a pair of fouls.
