SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Velocity FC today announced the signing of 23-year-old midfielder and former United States youth international Azriel Gonzalez, pending league and federation approval.

"We are excited to be adding another young and exciting player to the roster," said Spokane Head Coach Leigh Veidman. "Azriel is a player who comes with deep experience for his age with six seasons in the USL Championship, two seasons in the Canadian Premier League and also experience with the United States Youth National Team."

The attacking winger hails from Las Vegas and last suited up in the USL Championship for his hometown club, Las Vegas Lights FC, where he had 23 appearances and five goals across league and U.S. Open Cup play. Before joining the Lights in 2023, Gonzalez spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons with Canadian Premier League side FC Edmonton on a pair of loans, racking up 40 appearances and 13 goal contributions with the Eddies across CPL and Canadian Championship play.

Gonzalez is a product of the Seattle Sounders FC Academy and made his professional debut with the Sounders' then-USL Championship affiliate, Tacoma Defiance, in 2017. Gonzalez made 69 appearances and tallied 20 goal contributions for Tacoma in USL Championship play between 2017 and 2021.

During his time with the Sounders Academy, Gonzalez earned multiple call-ups to the United States U-16 Men's Youth National Team.

"In each season, Gonzalez has shown he can produce, which is key for an attacking player," Veidman added. "He brings a slightly different profile to our team."
